Celebrating My Birthday In Lockdown

Yesterday was my birthday, and given the current situation it was a day I was not looking forward to.

Ordinarily I use it as a time to celebrate, an excuse to meet up with friends and socialise. Obviously at the moment I am unable to do that. Knowing I'd be stuck in my flat by myself I was pretty much dreading my birthday.

However, I have to say that I very much enjoyed the day in the end. Of course it is not the way I would have chosen to spend it in a normal world, but things aren't normal right now and with that in mind, yesterday probably turned out to be the best day I have had since this crisis and lockdown began.

After 2 months of lockdown and pretty much total solitude, it was so nice to have a full day of people messaging me, phoning me and speaking to me on video calls. It was by far the most human interaction I have had in 8 weeks and it was truly special to speak to people I haven't seen or spoken to in so long.

So thanks so much to everyone who sent me a message, gave me a call, or took part in my zoom meeting, it was truly appreciated and made my day very special.

Thank you
